New Writing Dundee

I'm senior editor of New Writing Dundee. New Writing Dundee is an international short fiction anthology supported by Literary Dundee and the University of Dundee. We are currently compiling the long list for the sixth issue.

It began life as a magazine exclusively written and edited by students but in 2007 took on a wider remit. With support of the University of Dundee’s Creative Writing programme, the publication has grown from a small magazine to an internationally recognised anthology showcasing Dundee’s publishing potential.

New Writing Dundee is a fantastic opportunity to showcase new writing by both established and burgeoning writers. NWD6 will combine talent from the University of Dundee's own Creative Writing programme and the international writing community to create an innovative publication.

The success of the last few editions shows that there is a market for new and exciting short fiction, and we are looking forward to the entries that are coming in from allover the world. The Literary Festival and the Creative Writing programme have been a large part of that success.

The 2010 edition of NWD received around 600 submissions from across the world, which the editorial staff narrowed down the work to forty pieces of poetry and prose.

These included entries from award-winning writers such as Christopher Reid, Robert Crawford and Adam Mars-Jones alongside submissions from local authors, many of whom were appearing in print for the first time.

The Call for Submission has now closed, but keep your eye out for more information on the editing process and the publication information.
